One of the painful thing to see was the obituary of your own parent in the dailies, and knowing at the same time that the mystery on why he was killed still remain. According to the autopsy, he was found poisoned in the dining room. The employees in the mansion were investigated but nobody was found guilty of the crime. Kiara mourned and she was more than glad that her husband never left her side. She and Olivier just got married and the honeymoon was cut upon knowing the tragic demise of her father.

Kiara pushed the newspaper away and cried. She still could not bear the thought of life without her father now. Dressed in a black dress, she sat alone in the kitchen and remembered how she said goodbye to him and how hard it was to move on after that. Today, they just got home after hearing the last will and testament. She was now one of the richest people in the country, but she could not celebrate now. The feeling of loss was so great, she didn’t know how to get back to normal life. She should, because of the responsibilities she now had after hearing the last will. But…
She looked up to see Olivier walking in to the kitchen. She extended her hand to his. Together, they held hands as he sat beside her.
“I’m still here.” Olivier said and wrapped his arms around her. Kiara cried once again, lost in her husband’s arms. They were quiet for a while. “It’s going to be fine.”
She looked up at him. “I’m sorry that I ruined your shirt.”
Olivier shook his head. He wiped her tears away and kissed her on the lips. They met at Central Park on a fine Sunday a year ago. To say that they have a chemistry was an understatement. Sparks flew at that moment and they were inseparable since. People tried to warn her about him because he seemed to be a stranger who just suddenly came to her life but she never listened to them. She get to know Olivier more and for the ups and downs, they stick together.
She was glad that she still have Olivier.
“What do you want to have?” He asked her.
“I’m not really hungry right now.”
“A drink, perhaps?”
Kiara only nodded. As Olivier went to get something, she took the newspaper, balled it up and threw it away.
Olivier went back with a glass of wine. He set it down on the counter in front of her. “Drink this up.”
Kiara smiled as she took the glass and made a sip. “I have to be in the office by Monday,” she said and took another sip. “I like this wine.”
“It’s the same as your father’s.” Olivier watched her intently.
Kiara accidentally dropped the glass as she began to choke for air. There was a burning sensation in her throat and she struggled, she tried to vomit. She reached for her husband and he took it. His other hand gently caressed her face. There was an evil grin on his face.
“Y-you…” She blinked. Her heart started beating fast. Her stomach churned wildly.
His malevolent grin was the last thing she saw and everything turned to black.
